Can't figure out how to change my post about myself, so will leave that alone.
Today is the first day of my trip/experiment/journey of 5 months. I will go from Seattle to Greenville to Robert and Jan's wedding and then on to Myrtle beach, Wilmington, Greenville, Austin, Wilmington again and then back to Seattle by April `1. Some of that journey will be with my camper and some by vehicle only.
I told Reeves, Ashley and the boys good-bye last night. There were tears on my part. I've helped care for the boys on a pretty regular basis for about 2 years and I'll miss seeing and being with them and the whole family! It's good I'll see them in 2 weeks for the wedding. That helps!
I left at around 5:15 this morning and am now firmly settled into my first solo camping experience at Mountain Home RV Park in Mountain Home, Idaho which is about 30 miles SE of Boise. The people here are friendly and the camp host helped me get set up with water, electricity, etc. I'm not brave enough to use the propane yet, but have an electric heater which will keep me warm.
This was an 11 hour trek. I'm trying to get ahead of the snow storm which should be in Salt Lake City by Saturday, so plan for an early departure to take advantage of the daylight. I think I'm about 5 1/2 - 6 1/2 hours from here and then need to decide my next step : east to St Louis, MO, south then east to Denver, further South then east to New Mexico, even further south then east to Austin. I'll really be checking weather tonight to help me decide.
Will try to take pictures as I go along, but m in a hurry at this point. The scenery was amazing coming over here! Going through Snoqualmie Pass was a little white knuckling since there was darkness, rain, tons of fog, and construction, and the rest of the way had a good deal of rain, but the mountains are just gorgeous! No trees and the colors look like brushed velvet muted camouflage. Saw no wild animals which means I didn't have to try to not run over them.
Getting the hang of changing lanes, remembering I have a camper behind my truck. This is exciting! I'm using this time to judge whether to continue to keep the camper, whether it is just too expensive to do, or what. We'll see.
